During this workshop, we discussed ways to work more effectively with children who have never been to school or are at risk of dropping out, or who work at various brick kilns. During the training session, the coordinator of Apna Skool along with experienced teachers from Apna Skool discussed with the teachers from LIFI (Learning Initiatives for India) on teaching methodology, teaching techniques, curriculum, lesson plans and how to teach children of migrant workers through games, game-based learning and activities.
Professor Adhip Agarwal from the Department of
Physics, IIT Kanpur and his student distributed foldscopes (microscopes) to
everyone and taught how to use them. They taught all the teachers how to
connect children with science through practical activities. The training was
attended by 15 teachers and coordinators of Apna Skool and 13 members from
Learning Initiatives for India.
